Cross Harbour Ferry Service
‘Mary Brunel’ is the cross harbour ferry service that operates between the ss Great Britain and the landing stage at Capricorn Quay on the north side of the harbour.
This route is used by thousands of people every year, some for commuting to work, others for their visit to the ship or to link them into the Harbourside area.
It’s a great way to get across the harbour quickly, save pounds on expensive car parking in Bristol City Centre, reduce your carbon footprint and have a relaxing journey with one of the best views in the city – the ss Great Britain of course!
Kris, a resident of Southville in south Bristol, commented:
“The cross harbour ferry makes my journey to work a real pleasure - being able to walk to work and use the ferry crossing is a lovely way to start the day. Long live Mary Brunel and all that sail in her!”
The summer timetable for the ‘Mary Brunel’ runs to 31st October 2007 as follows:
Monday to Friday 08.00 – 09.30 and 11.15 – 18.15
Saturday and Sunday 10.30 – 17.30
Each journey costs 50 pence, with children under 5 on a parent’s knee travelling for free. A monthly commuter ticket costs £10, making a saving of £10 on an average four-week month. The ‘Mary Brunel’ can accommodate bicycles, pushchairs and wheelchairs.
This service is funded jointly by ss Great Britain Trust and Bristol City Council Directorate of Planning, Transport and Sustainable Development and operated by Bristol Ferry Boat Company.
